Eukanuba moved to GA4 with no reporting gap
Eukanuba is a premium dog food brand sold around the world. It sits in the same global pet care group as Royal Canin. The brand runs websites across many markets, each with local marketing teams who depend on steady reporting.
Universal Analytics was being retired, and Eukanuba had to move to GA4. The migration had to happen without disrupting the reporting that marketing teams in each market used every week.
Data also lived only inside the analytics interface. There was no backend reporting layer, so structured reports across markets were hard to produce and hard to keep consistent.
Measurement mapping
We catalogued the existing Universal Analytics goals, events and custom dimensions and mapped each one to a GA4 equivalent. Items that no longer served a purpose were retired so the new setup started clean.
GA4 event and conversion rebuild
We rebuilt event and conversion tracking in GA4 using a shared naming convention across markets. Each market keeps its local detail while reporting rolls up the same way everywhere.
Tag setup in GTM
All tags were moved into Google Tag Manager with a consistent container structure. This gave the team one controlled place to publish and audit tracking changes.
Parallel running and validation
We ran GA4 alongside Universal Analytics and compared the data before cutover. Differences were explained or fixed so teams knew what to expect when they switched.
Backend reporting infrastructure
We set up a reporting layer outside the GA4 interface to produce structured reports across markets. Teams now pull from consistent tables in place of rebuilding views by hand.
- The GA4 migration was clean and measurement continued without a break.
- Data was validated before cutover, which removed the risk of disruption.
- Reporting infrastructure now runs across markets.
- Data is available in a backend reporting layer beyond the GA4 interface.
